Yesterday I mentioned a quilted Batman Tote Bag by Ghostcat. Today, I realized that I’d never included that as a geek craft entry. It’s time to remedy that oversight.

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA TOTE BAG!

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA TOTE BAG!

This is the inspiration for my 8-bit lunch bag. It’s making me consider a similar project to make myself a new crochet bag, but one thing at a time.

I’ll be the first to admit that I know little to nothing about quilting. But looking at these awesome Geeky Quilts makes me want to learn.

Want.

I can only imagine how much time and effort it takes to sew together all those squares of fabric to make a scene like that possible; my hat is off to these crafters and their dedication to geekiness. There aren’t any patterns to any of these quilts, but I think that’s part of the quilting culture: you get a basic skill set (quilting) and apply that to create custom pieces of work (Any quilters want to confirm or deny that one?). In that way, no two quilts are ever the same, and I think that might be a good thing.

Did I mention: WANT!

While I may never learn to quilt, this certainly is providing incentive for me to change that stance. Granted I know a few quilters who might be open to a sponsored commission…
