This week’s game is the old and essential outdoor party game: horseshoes.
Horseshoes is an simple and quick to learn game that is still fun and challenging even if you’ve played it a few hundred times.
The rules are really simple. You drive a spike into the ground and give each person playing two horseshoes. There are 4 innings which consist of two throws by each person playing (typically 2 people, but you can technically play with as many as you want if you have enough shoes). Each person throws their shoes trying to get the shoe to land so that it straddles the pole (called a ringer). Shoes that land within 6″ of the spike count as 1 point, and ringers count as 3 points. At the end of four innings, the person with the most points wins. For the full body of the rules, check them out at the NHPA.
