This week’s game and NES Essential Play #2 was earlier featured as Monday’s Game #19: Super Mario Brothers 3.

I did a pretty decent work-up of it over there, so there isn’t much else to say on it. It’s an essential play because, hey, it’s Mario. As three is, in my mind, the best NES offering of Mario, it easily slides into the number two spot.

You can snag a copy of this pretty cheaply these days. The original cart was widely distributed in large numbers, so you’ll see plenty of used copies circulating around for about $5. It’s also available in other formats for various systems packaged in the Super Mario All-Star releases.
