This weekend we’ll take a look at one of the Least I could Do family of comics: Looking for Group.

Looking for group is written by Ryan Sohmer and Drawn/Inked/Colored by Lar DeSouza; the same Dynamic duo behind Least I could do and Gutters.

Started as a tongue-in-cheek comic poking fun at pen&paper RPGs and Wow alike, Looking for Group quickly evolved into a heavily plot oriented action comic.  In terms of evolution, this was a huge step up, since the web is already fairly well populated with gaming gag comics.  However, in this evolution the comic never lost it’s lighter edge.  Jokes and fun are still a regular thing, but are not necessarily the primary focus of it.

Really, this is a breath of fresh air in the action comic industry, as most of the big action comics tend to be filled with melodrama and characters agonizing about their personal damage.  Looking for Group actually takes a road similar to Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener’s Atomic Robo, where action, adventure, and drama are mixed with humor and fun rather than angst and darkness.

The comic is often graphic and somewhat violent, so I wouldn’t suggest it for the younger crowd.  However, for those of the more aged crowd, I can highly recommend reading the archives and checking back for the two weekly updates.

I’ve also been shown a crochet Richard from the Comic.  I may have to try my hand at one of those.
